| Overview Bournemouth is situated on the south coast at the eastern end of Dorset, bordering Hampshire. The town has a relaxed, modern feel, with an abundance of parks and open spaces - yet in fact Bournemouth and the neighbouring town of Poole together form the largest conurbation on the south coast with the facilities to match. Simply put, as one of the UK's premier (and sunniest!) seaside resorts you are never far from the best of the town or the quiet of the countryside. The area is an excellent base for outdoor pursuits and watersports - the beaches are award-winning and the coastline has recently been granted World Heritage status. The town centre has a wide variety of shops in all directions from the square and from here the gardens lead down to the beach and pier. At night the town's many excellent pubs and clubs come to the fore. A variety of live music and dance events are available at many venues and the BIC (Bournemouth International Centre), by the pier, regularly plays host to some of the top names in music and entertainment. |
